FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions buyers ask most about buying nickel alloys, titanium and special stainless steel from Hangbo.
Ordering and quotations
What information do you need for a quotation?
Grade or UNS number, dimensions including schedule or wall thickness, governing material and dimensional standards, quantity, required heat treatment, NDT scope, certificate type and any third party inspection requirement. A drawing is ideal for special fittings and flanges.
How fast will I receive a quotation?
Enquiries are answered within 10 minutes on working days and a formal quotation is normally issued within 24 hours.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No minimum for stock items. Made-to-order melts and special forgings carry a minimum weight, typically from about 500 kg for special alloys. Prototype quantities are accepted.
What are your payment and delivery terms?
We quote EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF and DAP. Payment is normally T/T with deposit, and letters of credit can be arranged for larger project orders.
Standards and certification
Which dimensional standards do you work to?
ASME B16.9 and MSS SP-43 for butt weld fittings, ASME B16.5 and B16.47 for flanges, ASME B36.10M and B36.19M for pipe wall thickness, ASME B16.25 for bevel ends and MSS SP-25 for marking.
Which material standards do you work to?
ASTM B366, B363, B564, B637, B381, B443, B444, B446, B622, A403, A815, A182 and their ASME equivalents, plus AMS specifications for aerospace grades and GB equivalents including GH4169, GH3625, GH3536 and GH2132.
Can you provide third party inspection reports?
Yes. Independent inspection, sampling and laboratory testing are arranged through SGS or another recognised agency, and the resulting third party test report is issued with the shipment. Please state the requirement in the enquiry so inspection is booked into the production schedule.
Do you supply NACE MR0175 compliant material?
Yes. Annealed Inconel 625, Inconel 718 within hardness limits, duplex 2205 and super duplex 2507 are supplied to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 requirements with hardness verified and reported.
Materials and selection
How do I choose between Inconel 625, duplex 2205 and 316L?
Compare PREN for chloride duty, design temperature for hot duty and whether H2S, chlorine or long stagnant periods are present. As a guide: 316L for clean low chloride duty, 2205 for general seawater, 625 where there is sour service, hypochlorite dosing or high temperature.
Do the Chinese GB grades differ from American equivalents?
GH4169, GH3625 and GH3536 are chemically equivalent to Inconel 718, 625 and Hastelloy X respectively. The key is to state the governing standard on the order so acceptance criteria are unambiguous.
Can you supply exactly to the composition limits I specify?
Yes, we routinely accept tighter internal limits on elements such as cobalt for nuclear duty or boron for high temperature grades. State any additional restrictions clearly on the enquiry.
Do you provide material selection support?
Yes. Our engineers shortlist candidates once you share the stream analysis, operating and upset temperatures, velocity and previous failure history.
Manufacturing and logistics
Do you machine finished components?
Yes. We produce OEM and ODM parts to drawing from our own stock with heat treatment, machining, inspection, marking and packing handled under a single quality system.
What are typical lead times?
Stock items ship within days; common production grades in a few weeks; special melts, large forgings and items with third party inspection longer, quoted individually.
How do you prevent contamination during manufacture?
Dedicated tooling and handling for nickel and titanium, segregation from carbon steel, careful control of marking materials and lubricants, and cleaning plus passivation before packing.
Can you consolidate mixed-alloy orders?
Yes, and we recommend it. One shipment with one documentation package reduces freight cost, receiving effort and the risk of missing certificates during audit.
Still unsure?
