  • Seamless pipe and tube to the applicable ASTM / ASME pipe specification
  • Forged rings, discs and hubs machined to your drawing

Typical applications

  • Seawater cooling, ballast and fire water piping
  • Flue gas desulphurisation absorbers and ducting
  • Brine, evaporated salt and chlorine dioxide service
  • Offshore platform utility and deluge systems

Welding, forming and machining

Welding
Weld with ERNiCrMo-3 or a matching super austenitic filler. Keep heat input moderate to protect the nitrogen content and avoid sigma phase in thick sections.
Heat treatment
Solution anneal at 1150 - 1200 °C and water quench.
Hot and cold forming
Hot work in the range stated by the mill for this grade, then re-solution or re-age before final machining so that the delivered condition matches the certificate.
Machining
Machine with sharp carbide or high-speed steel tooling, positive rake, constant feed and ample coolant. Never dwell - the surface work-hardens quickly.

Incoloy 926 frequently asked questions

What is the chemical composition of Incoloy 926?
Incoloy 926 is supplied to the following composition limits: Nickel (Ni) 24.0 - 26.0; Chromium (Cr) 19.0 - 21.0; Molybdenum (Mo) 6.00 - 7.00; Nitrogen (N) 0.15 - 0.25; Copper (Cu) 0.50 - 1.50; Iron (Fe) Balance; Manganese (Mn) 2.00 max; Carbon (C) 0.02 max. Single figures are maximum limits unless shown as a range; the heat analysis on your EN 10204 3.1 certificate is the governing record.
Which specifications cover Incoloy 926 flanges and pipe fittings?
Forged flanges and forging stock: ASTM B462 / B649 (UNS N08926). Butt weld elbows, tees, reducers and caps: ASTM B366 / ASME SB-366 (WP grade to order). Hangbo supplies to these specifications with dimensional compliance to ASME B16.5, B16.47 or B16.9 as applicable.
What is Incoloy 926 normally used for?
The main uses are seawater cooling, ballast and fire water piping; flue gas desulphurisation absorbers and ducting; brine, evaporated salt and chlorine dioxide service. Buyers pick it where the alternative would be a lower alloyed grade that would not survive the service.
Can Hangbo supply Incoloy 926 elbows, tees and flanges from stock or to order?
Yes. We forge and machine flanges to ASME B16.5 and B16.47, form butt weld elbows and tees to ASME B16.9, and supply matching seamless pipe, all from the same heat where required so that the whole spool carries one set of mechanical properties.
